Before fitting
Park on a level surface, apply the parking brake, switch the vehicle off and remove the vehicle key. Use adequate light. Locate the OBD-II socket without removing safety-critical trim.
Confirm that the vehicle on the order matches the vehicle being fitted. Inspect the guard, fasteners, service tool, socket, mounting and nearby wiring. Do not continue if any part is damaged, loose, modified or obstructed.
Fit without force
Follow the illustrated guide supplied with your exact product version. That guide takes priority over this general web page where it gives more specific instructions. Position the assembly squarely without loading the electrical pins or straining the cable loom. Fit each anti-tamper fastener only with the matching tool and to the documented hand-tight setting.
A correct installation must not require drilling, wiring, adhesive, software or permanent alteration to the vehicle.
Complete the clearance check every time
With the vehicle still switched off, confirm that the lock cannot move into the pedal area and does not contact pedals through their full travel, the steering mechanism, trim, wiring or the driver’s legs.
Stop, remove the product and contact AXLEWARD if clearance is uncertain. Do not drive until the area is clear and all controls operate normally.
Diagnostics and servicing
Remove OBD GUARD before a garage connects diagnostic equipment, then refit and repeat the clearance check afterwards. Tell the technician that a removable physical cover is fitted.
Keep the service-tool set secure outside the vehicle. Do not leave it with the car key or inside the vehicle.
